Serving Our Community
The Lynnhaven Parish Chapter, NSDAR is dedicated to preserving our nation’s heritage while making a meaningful difference in our local community through service, education, and patriotism. Our members actively support projects throughout the year, including:
• Furnishing rooms at the Vet House to provide a welcoming home for female veterans.
• Assisting with United States naturalization ceremonies as we welcome our nation’s newest citizens.
• Awarding scholarships and recognizing outstanding students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and patriotism.
• Collecting and delivering Christmas gifts to veterans receiving care at the Veterans Hospital.
• Participating in wreath-laying ceremonies to honor the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans.
• Sewing masks and other needed items for healthcare professionals and community organizations during times of need.
• Supporting the dedication and preservation of historical markers and sites that tell the story of our nation’s past.
• Preserving local history through historical research, education, and community outreach.
• Supporting active-duty military personnel, veterans, and their families through service and appreciation projects.
• Collecting donations for charitable organizations serving women, children, and military families.
• Participating in community beautification and historic preservation efforts.
• Promoting patriotism through educational programs, Constitution Week activities, and American history events.
• Encouraging youth through essay contests, educational awards, and civic engagement programs.
• Partnering with local schools, museums, libraries, and historical organizations to promote lifelong learning.
• Volunteering countless hours in support of nonprofit organizations and community initiatives throughout the Hampton Roads region.
In addition to chapter-sponsored activities, our members generously contribute their time, talents, and resources to numerous individual volunteer projects that strengthen our communities and embody the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution’s mission of Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism.
